We have to go up to Vancouver for the Richmond Night Market at least once a year. This year Cindy, Dina, and I went. It’s about a 2 hour drive. The food is great and always worth the drive. Even if you do get a speeding ticket =(. Warning if you’re heading up to the US Canadian boarder there’s currently a speed trap right where I-5 ends. They set up a barricade blocking all lanes and allowing only one car at a time, something you see in the movies when they are out looking for a fugitive, so we were surprised when we were told to pull over to the side. It turns out they stop us for speeding! I thought it was an unfair way to catch people. First of all you could see them and their flashing lights from about a mile away, unfortunately I should have been paying more attention to the speed limit signs and new curvy lanes they put in, than the flashing lights up front. The car next to me was going faster than I was and I was cited doing 40 in a 25. If they weren’t there flashing their lights, I probably would have been going the speed limit. Guess I would have felt better if I was doing 85 or something in a 65 mph zone, at least that ticket is more fair. I’ve crossed the border numerous times before and have never had issues, but now it seems the government needs more funds. How fair is that when we are still making a transition from freeway speeds to border lanes =(.
Anyways, enough about that and on to more positive news. The night market was busy as usual. We got to eat some really great food. Some of the booths serve fresh Dim Sum at night! How cool is that? We also had numerous different types of skewered meat, grilled squid, an exotic hot dog, fried tofu, grilled corn (paprika + Garlic pepper Salt) mmmmmm, fruits. It makes me want to go back for more. Cindy had fresh coconut juice right from the coconut, while Dina and I tried a 6 layer Vietnamese drink. It was really good! I included a pic of it below. We also found out that Michael Jackson is still around =).
